My businesses have been varied but all businesses
have a common theme and that is their staff. Whether
they be a board member or a fitter in the workshop,
everyone needs direction and focus. Understanding
the operation of a business, it’s processes and
utilizing and engaging all the staff within the
business are very important. As I have started
businesses from scratch and taken over existing
businesses I am fully aware of the challenges facing
today’s SMEs. I have experience spanning 25 years in
retail and the construction industry, behind the
scenes and on site. |
Career Background: |
I have run my own successful businesses for more
than two decades. At my peak I ran 5 businesses
turning over £10m. The best advice I received early
in my career was that my businesses would not be
successful unless they ran whilst I was not there.
I focused on staff, positive recruitment and
training, team building and monitoring and
measuring, a model I have replicated many times
releasing me to expand into other businesses |

Qualifications: |
After achieving my A Levels I trained as a Cost
& Management accountant within the NHS. After
10 years I left and started my first business.
I became an Accredited Associate of the Institute
for Independent Business in Oct 2008. I am CRB
checked and cleared. |
Comments: |
I am a great believer in the fact that people make
all the difference and that our young folk are our
future. I am a Director of one of the biggest
educational charities in the country and a governor
at two schools. I also volunteer as an ambassador
of a children’s hospice. |
