Skills & Services: |
Everyone wants to sell their business, or exit from it,
at some stage. When the time is right. When the
conditions are right. And of course when the price is
right. The question is how to get to that stage - in a
planned, organised, effective (and relatively painless)
way.
That’s where we come in. We work with you to identify
what needs to be done to create the right conditions and
environment for the optimum sale or exit. Then we work
with you to make that happen.
First
we focus on your personal aims and aspirations for the
short, medium and long term. Then we assess the wider
business context, your market and operating environment,
the opportunities and challenges. From this we develop
the right positioning and a structured, achievable
high-level exit plan. We then address each aspect of the
plan in more detail to create a customised
implementation programme, which can include:
-
Ensuring
your records, systems and contracts will pass due
diligence checks
-
Identifying buyers for your company and making the
approaches on your behalf.
-
Managing
the sale process on your behalf while you, with less
distraction, ensure your business “makes its
numbers”
-
Helping
you achieve the price and terms you want
Our business improvement services also include:
-
Profit
improvement plans and tracking
-
Developing performance criteria and measurement
systems
-
Objective advice on adjusting exit plans as external
conditions change
-
Preparing
plans for raising working capital and equity capital
-
Identifying worldwide channels to market
-
Export
market plans, advice on export grants and aid
schemes

Career Background: |
Partner in a firm of Chartered Accountants
1977 to 1981, sold to Price Waterhouse. Focused on
management information, business financial advice,
financial exit planning and sale and acquisition advice.
Owner-manager of a UK software house
from 1984 to 1999.
Started out as Sales Director of an ERP software
developer having done an MBO with 2 partners, then
covered all aspects from identifying a new niche
market, setting up a development team, specifying the
applications, running the implementation and support
services and ending up in general management. Along the
way we merged twice with larger companies and made
several acquisitions and disposed of some smaller
business units that did not fit the strategic plan. I
was instrumental In all merger and acquisition activity
and ended up running a division of £15m, 150 people in 3
locations focusing on the public sector. I exited when
the business was sold.
M&A advisor
focusing on cross border transactions in the tech sector
between UK and France, Germany, Holland and USA 1999 to
2003. I joined the external advisory firm I had engaged
to help us dispose of the software house and worked once
again as an advisor.
Chief executive of a £50m support services firm
in London 2003 to 2006. Headhunted to groom this
business for sale. In 3 years grew the business from
£30m to £50m, set up strategic plans, performed a root
and branch review of all operational processes, revamped
sales and marketing processes and positioned the company
as the premier quality business its field, in the
process guiding it through a statutory regulation
process and becoming the first Approved Contractor in
the industry.
